rating.
While that is chronogically accurate - It is a bloody bald faced lie in terms of what that statement implies.
now my fear is that all the widespread chaos as a result of any default - people ( particularly those who dont pay much attention to politics) will be told that the financial Armageddon was a result of Obama's policies.

(3,891 posts)The collapse of 1929? Who was the Congressman from Oklahoma then? Does anyone know? Does anyone care? Everyone knows Herbert Hoover was President in 1929. Everyone knows that FDR was President during the reconstruction. Yet can any of you name any Senators, without looking it up, or congressmen during that period of time? Most of us know that LaGuardia was the Mayor during that period, and a handful of us may know that the Lions outside the NY Public Library were named by the Mayor. But what do we really know?
My point is this, History is going to lay all of this at the feet of President Obama. Not the indepth biographies, those will either lionize, or demonize him depending on who writes them. But the American History books in twenty years that high school students will read. Theoretically read anyway.
In fifty years, the historical event of the day will show that President Obama was the first to see the credit rating of the nation downgraded. So yes, your fear is accurate, and frankly will happen.
Ten points, who was the Speaker of the House during the Presidency of Ronald Reagan, again not looking it up. I know the answer to that one, but other than LaGuardia, I couldn't name a senator or congressman from the 1920's to the 1940's with the possible exception of Senator Harry Truman, On that, I'm cheating and I admit it.
