Wisconsin legislature moves one step closer to increasing speed limits

MADISON – A bill to raise the speed limit to 70 miles per hour on some highways in Wisconsin is moving forward.

The bill’s author, State Rep. Paul Tittl, R-Manitowoc, says the measure was approved by the Assembly’s transportation committee Tuesday.

The bill would raise the maximum speed limit on rural interstates and expressways from 65 to 70 miles per hour.

Wisconsin is the only state in the Midwest that doesn't have speed limits capped at 70 miles per hour or higher.

Would it be cynical to see this as the WIGOP trying to turn out low information voters to the polls next year?

When I lived in the twin cities, you'd see them scurrying from Wisconsin to St Paul and Minneapolis every morning because their
redneck, Republican state had few jobs.

I remember my co-workers didn't think very highly of them...
