Nancy Salgado speaks to The Real News
Topics: McDonald's Corporation ♦ The Real News

A woman who has been employed by the McDonald’s Corporation for over 10 years says she was arrested last week after she confronted the company president at a meeting and told him she couldn’t afford to buy shoes or food for her children.

...........................

“It’s really hard for me to feed my two kids and struggle day to day,” she shouted as Stratton was speaking. “Do you think this is fair, that I have to be making $8.25 when I’ve worked for McDonald’s for ten years?”

“I’ve been there for forty years,” Stratton replied from the podium.

“The thing is that I need a raise. But you’re not helping your employees. How is this possible?” Salgado asked.

At that point, someone approached Salgado and informed her that she was going to be arrested.

"Maybe you should go out and find a job that pays more!"

To want to murder someone after having made a remark like that would be justifiable homicide!

typical tone-deafness of these creeps ; he has been there 40 years , and he certainly makes a hell of a lot more than $ 8.25 an hour .
Yeah , I've got mine , you just go ahead and slave some more , I couldn't care less .

I'm actually surprised and employee (probably now an ex-employee) was able to get that close the guy in the first place.

Is he going to be alright? I mean, that must have really been temporarily annoying to him, having to face a victim of his slave wage business model. Poor baby!

So what was she really arrested for? Speaking her mind. And frankly, in a very non-threatening manner. The guy just can't handle the consequences of his actions. The real implication here is that he makes so much money because he is stealing from his employees. Rather than pay them a living wage, he takes those revenues and pumps them into executive salaries and investor payouts. That may be legal on the books but it is morally reprehensible.

Glad he so clearly identified himself as one of the assholes without a grateful bone in his body. One more reason to avoid that establishment.

It's been a while, but last I checked having an invitation onto someone's property that gets revoked because you say something they don't like isn't trespassing. You might be asked to leave, and if you refuse be considered trespassing, but their consent to your being on their property can't be silently revoked. They have to tell you to leave.

Wonder if she can sue the shitbird cop that arrested her or whatever dick asked to have her arrested?
