I was aware of most of this, but was not aware of Gander Mountain, nor American Greetings.

(28,498 posts)I printed three copies:
1) To put on my refrigerator;
2) To put in my car's glove box;
3) To put in my desk so I can grab it when going to the store.
I shouldn't ever be without!
I do the food shopping for my family and will find this list helpful!

(630 posts)Next step I think is to print the thing out, make a ton of photocopies, and start leaving it in stores wherever I go.

(40,367 posts)You can scan for Koch, Monsanto etc.
When in doubt, I use it at the grocery and other stores. I'm thrilled with it! It shows the 'family tree' of each company scanned also. I've learned a lot from using it .

(5,019 posts)is that all too often I already don't use any of the products - or, for some reason I can't. Lycra - that can be kinda hard to avoid especially if you like skinny jeans!
It is good to know so I don't switch to using them but I can't write that delicious "I have been using your products for X long but because of your Y behavior I'm now going to stop" letter

(38,434 posts)Many of those jobs in those factories are ...union jobs..
I started the same thread years ago, and person familiar with the unions in some of those locations basically said that the Koch
Brothers would like nothing better than to get rid of those union contracts and employ cheaper non union workers. So that is it.
That is what I was told, and I am passing that on here.
kentuck
(111,102 posts)Would it be preferable that some good paying union jobs are lost or cut, or that the Koch brothers are driven out of our political system? Difficult choice, I know.

(31,706 posts)...first of all, I fully endorse a boycott of these products and have avoided purchasing anything I know has Koch connections for years...even there's a certain karmic affect when wiping one's ass with GP TP...
That said, these dudes are beyond any boycott...with more money than we can even fathom. Moreso...they've already shelled out millions to fund the stink tanks and other astroturf groups that are now, believe it or not, working against the Kochs. If the government defaults, these dudes stand to loose billions; far more than they'll shell out in providing healthcare to their employees. But even they can't control the monster they funded...

(29 posts)I don't know if this post is against the rules for posting, but if you have an iphone install Buycott. Makes weeding out the Koch products a snap when shopping. Just scan the barcode of a product and you'll know if it's Koch related by signing up for the Koch boycott in the app.
There are lots of companies that don't get my money anymore thanks to this one app.

Thanks for the info and I will do my part, but I don't think we would hurt them financially if all their businesses suddenly went under. They've already moved their billions into off shore bank accounts.
What else could we do? Box of bed bugs?

(9,760 posts)Granted, it's not as cushy as the Quilted Northern we used to use before finding our the it was from the Kochs. But it's not too bad, and better once you get used to it. And, as some have said, it's not going to make much of a dent in the Koch fortune, but still. I'm happy not to buy anything from them if I can help if.
ABOUT MARCAL
Based in Elmwood Park, New Jersey, Soundview Paper Company (formerly Marcal Manufacturing) is proud to be one of the oldest environmentally friendly paper companies in the US. For over five decades, Marcal has been reducing landfill by making our paper products from recycled paper. We use paper collected from residential neighborhoods, from the small blue baskets in office buildings, from unwanted junk mail, and waste from printersall in an effort to do something good, to produce something that people need from this discarded paper.
Marcal is an integral part of the northern New Jersey community. Our company uses recyclables from local municipalities and recycling facilities for our paper recycling process.
Buy in bulk on Amazon if you have the room to store it. Smaller packages also available. Our local Giant used to stock it, but no more.
Or course, I'm not sure I like suporting Amazon.com either, but one small step at at time...
