A Lament: I don't watch the news any more.

Not so much now, anyway.

I used to be eager to see what was unfolding on the local, national, and world stage every day.

I usually get up at 5 AM.
I'm a geezer.

I'd watch an hour of local news, while surfing news websites (google, buzzflash, al.com) on the web.

Then CNN at 6:00.
I will not watch 'Morning Joe'.

The 'news' now, especially national, is so damned depressing (shutdown, debt ceiling, blame game) that many mornings I just opt for an old movie on TCM, AMC, or FX.

Much more soothing.
Helps keep my BP at acceptable levels.

especially the cable news pundit crap is very repetitive and mostly about ratings and wanting to hear themselves.

Likewise at MSNBC, but their evening people are fun to watch. It's all howling and screaming about stale news that I've read online.
