Both sides suck

I read this and cringe.

I have been a harsh critic of Obama (frequently but not always) and Democrats in general. I can list all the reasons why, but that would take too long.

But please listen to this critic.

There is most certainly a difference between the two sides. You are seeing before your very eyes, right now, the best demonstration yet of that difference. The repubicans are increasingly sociopathic. That is not to say they're all sociopaths, but their actions clearly can be so described.

I have found fault with the Democrats in general with their propensity for actions that appear spineless. I have found the biggest single fault with Obama way back when he refused to even entertain single payer.

These are policy and tactical differences. They are very real. But they don't even approach the same level of disagreement I have with the repubicans and teabaggers.

Next time you wish to say both parties are the same . . . . THINK.

They just aren't. If you now you can't see why, I don't know what to tell you.

I'm far from enamored of Obama's tendency to want to reach common ground with psychopaths and from what I read there are a lot of people here who feel the same way.

Some posters have even threatened to stay home in future elections because the Dems are not far enough removed from republican policy.

But I don't think I've ever seen anybody say that Democrats are as bad as republicans.

that we couldn't get the 60 votes we needed for cloture, because Joe Lieberman, no longer a Democrat, refused to vote for either single-payer or a public option.

So why blame Obama for not backing a losing proposition, when his real job at that point was to convince people that the ACA could work as an alternative?

that the Dems, for all our faults, are very different from the increasingly sociopathic Rethugs.
