Kristina Anderson grew up in Atwood, Illinois, graduated top of her class in high school and graduated from the University of Illinois.
The Illini cheerleader moved to Scottsdale to get her Masters Degree at Grand Canyon University.
Recently, she was diagnosed with a rare form of ovarian cancer that is not covered through her insurance, due to an exclusion.
Anderson is undergoing her fourth round of chemotherapy and in between treatments, she is preparing for the Miss Arizona pageant, according Sandy LaDuke, office manager for Dr. Deborah Wilson. The pageant is in late November.
To raise money for her treatment and living expenses, there will be a fundraiser on Thursday, October 10 at 5:30 p.m. at Grimaldis pizzeria in Scottsdale, 4000 N.Scottsdale Rd.
There will be a silent auction and a $20 donation includes pizza, salad and a fountain drink.

would not cover cancer? this really pisses me off. that's why we need ACA. we needed it a long time ago.
