Just because we have legit complaints about ACA doesn't make us trolls!

Some people are throwing the T word around again. NOW I will grant we do have trolls around here that just want to cause trouble on this site BUT when you are a member who may not post as much as I do OR only seem to post complaints--Which is not my intention I just trust the majority of people on this site for honest and true information.

Yes, my wife is the one who needs to sign up for ACA. I get coverage from my company and her company is basically going to drop everyone and telling workers they have to sign up for Obamacare.

My wife is also now considered someone with a pre-existing conduction because after emergency surgery she developed Fungal Pneumonia from our local hospital and my work place seem to make it impossible to add her onto my insurance. In fact this year I never got a chance to talked to our insurance rep. Issues with him and I getting together because of him canceling or not showing up.

People keep saying wait let all the "bugs" get worked out but when you have 2 months to sign up AND dealing with working 40 hours us just moving and just life we need something quick easy and allow her to spend time going through packages that will allow her the best option of insurance. She doesn't want to have to hurry and pick a package especially when she is guessing she will not have that many options.

NOW we use basically fire fox as a web browser. It seems that browser doesn't work with the Healthcare.gov website. Not to mention it took her a week just to be able to create an account.

To start signing up she had to switch to internet explorer which kept logging her out or freezing on her. (yes, I have a feeling it is our browser but we hardly use that browser.)

She just looking for coverage for herself YET she had to give MY personal info as well. and after giving both of our social security numbers how much we make and other info they claim they can't "verify our identity " without us sends copies of social security cards and other info. To my wife that just a red flag. Have we NOT been told for years DON"T give out this information. Be careful who you give this information too and NOT only that my wife had to basically agree that this website or department can now gain access to our IRS statements for the next 5 years?!

I am sorry if that makes us wrong or "not supportive" of the democratic party or Obama but you would think for as long as they had to prep for this they would have all these bugs worked out NOT to mention my wife being concerned about all the information they want you to give on the website and now having to verify that info by hard copies. No my wife feels uncomfortable. HOW MANY ON THIS SITE WOULD FEEL COMFORTABLE IF ANY OTHER SITE ASKED FOR ALL THIS LET ALONE A GOVERNMENT WEBSITE?

That's sounds a little strange. Millions use Firefox without problems.

But if you feel that's the case download another browser. They're free.

If Internet Explorer doesn't "work" either try Google Chrome or Opera.

And the:

. . . "they claim they can't "verify our identity " without us sends copies of social security cards and other info" doesn't sound right either.

Are you sure the correct info is being input?

Switched back to Safari, and everything's working fine. I wouldn't rule out Firefox problems on any given site.

I'm also a Mac user but my Safari has a bug in it and crashes so I switched to Firefox and it doesn't crash.

It's not surprising at all. Also they moved relatively recently.

A lot of people will be asked to provide additional info.

I suspect that you are being asked for hard copies of info because of the recent move which probably doesn't match other records. Or they just may be using that as identity verification due to discrepancies in other data.

What they are doing with the tax returns is to figure the advance tax credit through the exchange, which is going to be sent to the insurance company so that her monthly premium will be lower. She will also have to keep updating the exchange when her income or your address or what have you change. It's an ongoing process that will continue as long as she has insurance through the exchange.

So there is a reason for it, and at least she got in!

I realize that she is frustrated but this is exactly the way the exchanges were designed to work. Eventually there will be another layer of info from the companies, which are supposed to report whether insurance is offered and how much the premium would be. So eligibility and subsidies are supposed to be constantly recalculated.

once you get through the process, your wife, with a serious preexisting condition, will be able to get insurance that your own company was denying her.

People are already filing taxes through a government website. Why would there be special concerns filing for health insurance on a government website?
