US Rep Bill Young (R-Fl) to retire.

http://www.tampabay.com/news/politics/local/us-rep-cw-bill-young-to-retire-wont-seek-re-election-in-2014/2146274

This is good news. At one time Bill Young did a good job representing his district and Florida, but over the past few terms has been dragged right by his republican colleagues. When he was first elected to Congress, Pinellas County leaned republican, but now leans Democrat. Young's rightward tack put him no longer in step with his district, yet his years of service and name-recognition always made him a lock for reelection...he never failed to acheive at least 60% of the vote. Often, he was unopposed.
Now, with his decision not to run for reelection, it gives Dems an excellent opportunity to capture an open seat in a bluish purple district.
