Another example is David Mamet. A fine playwright, and a better than average movie director, whose plays and movies (Glengarry Glen Ross, The Postman Always Rings Twice, Oleanna, etc.) are among the most viscerally passionate bits of writing I've ever come across.

But Mamet the man? He turned into a conservative and has terribly inelegant stances re: his anti-Palestinian views.

After having seen James Woods in Once Upon a Time in America, Citizen Cohn, Boost and Nixon, I'll easily place him among the A-list of acting talent in the U.S.
