(25,111 posts)are still grinding the pavement and the GOPers are still inside hoping and praying to their GAWD for a miracle but ain't nothing happening so therefore they must go down in a blaze of glory all the while bringing down their fellow country.
Selfish much? I call it derange syndrome and a lack of reality. Recently read that even the GOPers are refusing to believe the current polls showing them in deep doo doo and they are saying - nope these polls are false. How in the hell can you deal with such contempt of any reality.

If he caves and gives the spending cuts the GOP want, after talking to business, that will not bode well for anyone.

(23,572 posts)away the important stuff. For me, it's wait and see. I would feel better if the dems were counter proposing progressive ideas. Why don't they answer the repubs who want to end Obamacare with the idea of filling in the gaps to make it work better for more people? Why don't they counter the repubs who want to shut down the EPA with the idea of more money to the EPA. Why do they always get to move the goalposts and not us?

(8,084 posts)that he Government may be reopened this weekend or Monday
and the Republicans appear to be offering a 1 year raise on the debt ceiling

(90,829 posts)All we are hearing is people breathlessly promoting the chances of a deal based on incredibly one sided proposals from the republicans.
Gee, the republicans are offering a 6 week period before they shut down the government again and blow up the debt ceiling,, but only if the president agrees to eliminate key tax funding for the ACA, agrees cuts to medicare and medicade and to sign away his only outs to pay the bills when the republican's blow up the debt ceiling.
I like Barrack Obama a good bit, but everytime we see these situations the only "proposals" are far right wet dreams and the resulting "deal" ends up being a good bit right of center.

Something he should have done a long time ago. Now they look like even bigger
inept jerks if that is possible.

(19,926 posts)What we ended up with is less spending than the Ryan budget. What we got is what the Republicans originally wanted.
I am very thankful he held out and played this part of it as he did, but we didn't exactly win anything, he just didn't let them blackmail us.

(255 posts)Obama won't cave this time. They'll get a clean CR and an increase on the ceiling soon (more then six weeks!). But "negotiations" will eventually begin on a budget deal. What do "we" give up then?
Cosmocat
(14,574 posts)but from what has been released from the "negotiations" it would appear that what is agreed up will look MUCH worse.

I want to jump for joy but first I need to know what they discussed, and what happens next

(7,790 posts)They don't actually agree with each other about everything. The tea party "grass roots" aren't really financed by a coalition of all the "business leaders". They're mostly financed by a few really rich ones who happen to not give any fucks.
