This time it was Lester Holt's turn to play dumb with Jim Cantore of the Weather Channel. Usually it's Brian Williams doing yeoman service to the oil, gas and coal companies, but this is the weekend.

By.The.Way: Sawyer and Pelley are no better. This is not merely an indictment of NBC. 'tis rather a shot at our entire "Free Press" for their subservience to the goddamn polluters.

No one forsaw the intense propaganda campaign by the energy industry coming.

Unfortunately, most of the morons that buy that garbage can't wrap their heads around the concept "Heat = Energy". Therefore, when it snows, they believe that it somehow means the Earth isn't 'warmer'.

So there's: GW (global warming), CC (climate change), AGW (anthropogenic global warming), ACC (anthropogenic climate change), and AGCC (anthropogenic global climate change). - As we went through the hoops of finding a term that would reflect the phenomenon more accurately for the morons.

16. Actually, Frank Luntz coined "climate change" because he thought it didn't sound as threatening...

...as "global warming." (If you don't know, he's the corporate GOP's professional language manipulator.)

I don't think it's had the effect that Luntz wanted. But I think Al Gore's "climate crisis" is better than all of those.

I figured it out from the context of the post. I've wondered the same thing. They'll go as far as acknowledging that the weather is getting stranger, but never far enough to really cover the subject.

The Weather Chanel could do so much educating regarding these issues. Sigh...

This is ALL part of the economic slaveholding by the capitalist PTB. IOW, GW and CC are all part of the SAME economic system that behind this war on women and other oppressed groups.

But I agree with the poster who said that the Weather Channel could be the ones who do the primary job of educating the general populace on this. Of course, since they're OWNED by those same capitalist PTB, that won't happen.

We won't even be able to START to fix this until we get rid of this entire rotten system.

A bad storm, hot day, mild winter, etc. is not an indicator of global warming. Mentioning global warming during a weather story about any of those, is the intellectual equivalent of them saying during a story about cold weather: "See how cold it is, there's no global warming!".
