Shoot. Both branches doing stuff at the same time. I'm torn on which to watch. Guess I'll go with this vote right now.

then they need the nuclear option (simple majority) if they still want it in this in this form. Otherwise they would need to alter it as a compromise.

The problem here is that there are 46 rethugs and as long as they need this 60 votes for damn near everything (which needs to change ffs), they would have to strip at least 6 rethugs away to get cloture to then be able to vote on a bill needing just a simple majority.

So it all went along party lines? Did McCain vote yea? He has been doing his "maverick" impression of late.

along party lines. When they had called out names, I did hear McConnell's and Cruz and most of the rest of the ilk. Am not sure which 2 didn't vote and don't remember if I heard McCain or not.

Reid just announced Democrats are going to caucus and once a couple Senators speak (Landrieu & Johanns), the Senate is going to recess subject to the call of the chair while they caucus.

They essentially blocked a clean, year-long lifting of the debt ceiling. That's the ideal legislation, of course, but there's no way it was going to pass even the Senate, much less the House.

as a framework and apparently Landrieu & Johanns (who is a rethug from Nebraska) who might have something different.
