That Obama was stripping them of Constitutional protection, and suggested quartering troops was next.

“You look at our Constitution, you look at our Bill of Rights, this is an administration that seems bound and determined to violate every single one of our Bill or Rights,” he explained.

“Tyranny!” a man in the audience shouted.

“I don’t know that they’ve yet violated the Third Amendment, but I expect them to start quartering soldiers in people’s homes soon,” the Texas Republican said.

4. Censure
Sat Oct 12, 2013, 08:10 PM
Oct 2013

From senate.gov:

Censure: A less severe form of discipline used by the Senate against its members is censure (sometimes referred to as condemnation or denouncement). A censure does not remove a senator from office. It is a formal statement of disapproval, however, that can have a powerful psychological effect on a member and his/her relationships in the Senate. Since 1789 the Senate has censured nine of its members.

Glad you're here! Expulsion! MAN that would be great, and much deserved for that arrogant Sultan of Shitstorm! And yet I still keep hearing stories reported from Texas that it remains rather blood-red there, and most people there LOVE the loons they've sent to Washington, particularly him. I keep hoping for the day when he truly gets his comeuppance. This guy really needs to be brought back down to earth, and off his high horse. The last legitimate Messiah Complex is about 2,000 years in the past, after all!

Elsewhere on the website, it gives the history of censure and expulsions from the Senate. In nearly every case (notable exception being McCarthy, who was essentially censured for "being an asshole&quot there was a legitimate underlying crime -- usually involving bribery or other financial malfeasance.

Fortunately for official Washington, "being an asshole" isn't a crime.

What is really frightening is that his constituency cannot see through him. This man went to Harvard and is not a dumb person. He is conducting his self-promotion in ways that are guaranteed to propel him into the limelight. He is simply an actor, spewing things he truly does not believe, to rile up his voters. I wish to God some standout Republican would just publicly go off on him and call him out for it. It one did, perhaps others would follow. Yes, I know he has been privately castigated, but a public verbal flogging that makes all the cable shows is what is needed. Repeatedly.

That's the charity Laura INGRAHAM supposedly patronizes. Back when, I e-mailed them and asked what kind of spirituality might a convert like her be expected to show, since she hasn't shown any increase of kindness and loving since her conversion. A nun replied that she had never heard of INGRAHAM. Since she converted during the wave of conversions among FBI, spooks, and Robert NOVAKula, the Opus Dei fad, is The Little Sisters a wingnut magnet?

Ted Cruz: Obama will ‘start quartering soldiers in people’s homes soon’

Cruz added that the president was also violating the First Amendment by forcing businesses to cover birth control — which he referred to as “abortifacients” — in their employees’ health insurance plans.

“This is an administration that is telling Christian companies like Hobby Lobby, is telling the Little Sisters of the Poor that they must provide abortifacients or pay millions of dollars in government fines,” he opined.

“Tyranny!” the audience member yelled again.

That he is capable of significant intelligence is clear. Obtaining the position of clerk to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, is not something that just anyone can do.

Then the question is whether he actually believes this nonsense, or is a puppet, or is just trying to flatter his ego with the attention, or is trying to lock down the far right nutcase base of the party before attempting a move to the center. Whilst any one - or all - of these is/are believeable, my guess is that it is the latter that is the largest.

since the onslaught of defunding Obamacare was a failure now their only alternative is to further put fear in the already crazies by telling them more outrageous lies. In other words, their coup have been a failure so far as to get the "American public" behind them, yet again, they, ahem the GOP party misinterpreted that the majority of Americans truly hated Obamacare. I think a lot of Americans know that if the GOPers are successful in dismantling ACA it will be in opening to further dismantle SSI and Medicare (Medicaid). Since ACA is apparently here to stay for awhile and is catching on fire (people really like it) it hinders GOPers from messing with the other programs.

Since they lost that fight what else is left. They consider "surrender" not plausible. Therefore why not take the whole country over the cliff and blame Obama. GOPers want a riot to ensue and the military to kick in = Obama with troops in your home.

Crazed Cruz and his cronies are some sick assholes.

But he does deserve public shaming, which to him would be worse than death. Other psychos need to see him as an object lesson, too, so maybe they'll at least cool their jets a little. We need to build a democracy safe from them. 40. What Makes Cruz Dangerous Is The Cumulative Effect Of All The Hate Talk Nationally
Sat Oct 12, 2013, 10:51 PM
Oct 2013

We need to remember that 90% of the talk media is hate radio. Guys like Limbaugh are actually mild compared to a number of more local talk show hosts are just as or more vile and inciteful than Cruz. And most of the country hears only these people. There are no progressive talkers except in isolated parts of the nation. Go from Colorado to the coast and all there is is hate radio.

We have a lot of borderline edgy people on the edge who are extreme right wingers. And many of them are armed to the teeth.
Incidents do not happen in a vacuum. Then you have RW truckers saying they want to impeach Obama and arrest Pelosi and Reid.

We have an ugly recall now going on in Colorado by the gun nuts. They are accusing our state Senator of everything on the planet up to being a serial killer. They are calling her corrupt and evil to people they are trying to get to sign their recall petition.

Our Senator is one of the most honest and forthright politicians in Colorado yet these extremists are engaging in outright character assassination.
