That doesn't have a House of Representatives where Tea Party nutcases have a majority of the votes. That doesn't have a Senate where there are enough obstructionist right-wingers to filibuster anything they don't like. You might as well say they could have given every man, woman, and child in America a pony; it's about as likely.

Would love to see a functional, progressive Congress that uses facts instead of fear induced paranoia to govern, something the tea party is totally incapable of.

It is up to those who wish to restrict personal freedoms to demonstrate a dire need to do so, and given the evidence available, so-called assault weapons are used in an extremely small percentage of violent crimes, and the previous AWB was completely ineffective in large part because of this. This isn't even touching on the poisson pill aspect of the issue.

abandon the entire gun control issue as a party. At least for the time being. In all of rural America we are now known as the party that wants to, "Take our guns away!" This is so counterproductive. There are so many more more pressing issues that middle America agree with us on to allow gun control to destroy potential support.

The gun control issue is killing us in rural America. I know, I live here.

Allow them to have as many guns as they want, with as big as magazine as they want. Just never mention gun control again. Rural folks can see where we Democrats are right on most every issue but they have been led to believe by decades of NRA propaganda that the lefties want to take away their guns. I understand that sounds simplistic but it is true. On the gun control issue alone the party support could increase tremendously.

I'd like nothing better than to be part of a bitter one-term end for a lot of the Tea-hadists.

Even if McConnell and Boehner thought they were good ideas they'd never pass them as long as Obama is President.
Why help people when you can screw them over to try and harm the administration?
