I have a hypothetical question...

Last edited Sun Oct 13, 2013, 02:30 AM - Edit history (1)

What if the House Republicans decide to say, SCREW YOU, pack their bags and go back to their home states, and will not come back until they get their way? What will become of this country... and them?

Do we have to wait till the next election?

Will there be a next election?

Would they be that freaking crazy to want to destroy not only this country, but all the other countries that are tied into us financially?

This stuff scares the hell out of me.

You mean back to their fortified homes designed to keep out people with pitchforks and torches?

I don't think most of them have those sorts of digs.

As long as a small handful of Republicans stuck around, there would be a quorum, allowing House business to proceed, but with a quorum that would be majority Democratic.

Obama will likely have to invoke the 14th amendment to pay the bills and use many of the emergency executive orders that have been passed down to him by other presidents.

One thing he will likely do is have those vacationing congressmen arrested and dragged back to Washington to do their jobs.

And yes, some of them are that crazy. Whether the rest of them would let them get away with it for long is anyone's guess. Right now, they're terrified of Koch money throwing them out of office in gerrymandered districts. When some of the consequences of default become apparent, that is likely to change.

There are far worse things to fear from this than losing one's cushy job in Congress.

Worst case scenario, we're waiting until Jan 2015 when the 114th Congress is seated.
