I love how all of the Republicans are denying that this debacle will have any negative effects on their candidates in the 2014 elections. They live in a completely different world than the rest of us.

(8,377 posts)It will hurt the other Republicans, and certainly make it very difficult for them to win the Presidency. The party at large must decide if they are willing to let this extreme minority take the rest of them down. So far, the answer is "yes", considering that Boehner could have ended this at any time simply by allowing clean votes to go to the floor.
This may have to go on another week or two before the rest of the Republicans get enough backbone to stand up to the teabaggers.
