The big lie? Prez Obama didn't compromise on ACA
The big lie about ACA is that there were no compromises to the Republicans in the law that passed. The biggest one was the law itself, it is based on a Republican plan that had been push since the early 90s. No single payer or public option, both required by Republicans in the Senate and House. The list goes on, but in the final votes, the Republicans would not support the bill they shaped in order to score political points going forward. Is there any question why the President is unwilling to trust anyone on the right after their behavior at a time when he compromised for all the country and was betrayed by those that had extracted those concessions? Trust but verify or won't be fooled again. You can't negotiate with serial liars.
Any that were here during that time saw the drama surrounding the "surrender" to the right on so many pieces of the ACA and the perceived squandering of this political capital and filibuster proof majority. The President focused everything he gained in the election to provide access to health care for as many as he could. There are many things that could be better, but we got so much more than was ever there before, it will always be remembered as a step forward to the betterment of our country.
