Remember McConnell's quote about making Obama a one-term President???

The GOP doesn't give a rat's ass about the U.S. economy (and potentially the world economy) going into a tailspin from a US Federal gov't shutdown and a default on US debt.

They. Don't. Fucking. Care!

What *do* they care about?

Getting power back in the WH and in the Senate so they can continue their march to a pure oligarchy favoring their billionaire benefactors and screwing over everyone who works for a living (and esp. those who don't due to disability, inability to find work, etc. )

A gov't by of the rich, by the rich, for the rich.

The rest of us are just slaves to keeping them rich.

that all of them are supporting the government shutdown and don't care about the default. This mentality runs deep. It's not just the leadership.

I no longer believe it is about stupidity. It's about power at all costs. They'll do ANYTHING.

I don't think they truly understood the type of mindset they were using as their tools in Congress.

But that's where we are now...dealing with the destructive force of their own creation.

Or perhaps they think that once they control all 3 branches, they can institute new trade agreements making it easier for US companies to off-shore labor, export products w/a devalued US dollar, export US mfg to countries soft on pollution controls, etc.

Of course you're not responsible for your spouse's behavior but I'm sure she knows the economic repercussions of all this and therefore so does Ted Cruz.

So that means that either he's acting and this is just theater, he's bluffing to try to get some more concessions...or they know something that we don't.

I often think do these teabaggers *really* believe what they spout on TV or on the floor or is it all just theater? Are they just playing to their audience to keep themselves in power but find ways to save face when they realize they really up against a hard deadline and really know what the consequences are?

If they do truly believe what they spout, then we are truly fucked as a nation.
