. . . most likely used, primarily, to keep the area secure and clean for visitors and for any crowd control.

They are expensive sections of government property; most of the sections ornately decorated and designed for the decor of the memorial. How is this not a crime to be immediately acted on? I personally resent the memorial being desecrated in this manner.

People have totally lost the thread on what civil disobedience is about. If you don't get arrested, you have failed.

The story here is that Palin and their crew are acting like assholes. Arresting them only gives them the attention they want.

It's like a child misbehaving in an attempt for attention. Don't give it to them.

Sun Oct 13, 2013, 02:12 PM
Oct 2013

Hundreds of veterans frustrated with the government shutdown converged on the White House on Sunday, protesting the closure of Washington’s monuments and memorials.

The veterans, who started marching from the World War II Memorial at about 8 a.m. this morning, also said they were upset that they have seen their disability benefits stop because of the government stalemate over the budget.

Protesters took barricades that were blocking the entrance to D.C.’s monuments and piled them in front of the White House, chanting: “Respect our vets.”

“They are our memorials, and they belong to us,” said Steve Nevels, who drove six hours from West Virginia last night to participate in the demonstration. Nevels, 39, said he helped take down some of the barricades that were blocking the World War II Memorial.
