Anyone know how to get

your texts on the Galaxy S4 if you previously had an iphone, ios.

My son got a new phone and his ios on the iphone is making so he isn't getting texts. They wanted to give him a new phone #, and I think there must be a better way. I just don't know how.

If he hasn't "wiped" his I-phone he needs to backup the SMS file to a pc/mac. Then copy the file to the Galaxy. The file needs to be "translated" and then imported. (this requires 2 readily available free apps, 1 to translate and 1 to import)

It sound worse than it is, I've done it for people a few times.

Have him Google/Bing "I-Phone to Android text message transfer" for details.

I thought he was trying to transfer his archived messages.

What he's experiencing seems to be a common Io7 problem, but again Google/Bing is his friend.

then appears to be a provisioning problem going on at the cell company (not sure why they feel they need to give him a new phone # - he may need a different CSR to look at the account as it's technically sending a message to the phone #).

Alternately, the other issue might be what was being used for texting on the iPhone. Apple has an "iMessage" program for texting, chat, and other communications and if he used that, it won't work on the S4 (although there is a controversial iMessage app for Android on Google Play). If the folks he texts with are using iMessage to contact him on the S4, he may be out of luck as those communications apparently use and stay within Apple's ecosystem. I.e., they may need to use a different text app on their iPhones or iPads to text him.

FWIW, I have an iPhone 4S and a Galaxy S4 but only get alert & informational texts with them as I just don't get into texting.
