Why weren't they protesting around the Korean War and Vietnam War memorials??

Because FOX News and Sean Hannity and Mark Levin and the right-wing propaganda networks only told them about the WWII memorial. I had friends and family that died in the Vietnam War and the veterans that fought in WWII are no better than they were. But, I guess they don't deserve the same respect in the eyes of FOX News and their Tea Bagging followers?

from before 1/20/1969, and compare them to today's protests, and note how many that were protesting back then actually grew up to be pro-war Republicans ...

Like Concrete Blonde once said:

"They don't know who to run to
They don't know where to go
Unless you tell them what to think
They don't know what they know"

Different year. Was highly effective in 2000 and 2010. How about now? As long as the media plays their whoring roll, it is a toss up

But the closest they can get now is giving a haymaker to the guy next to them.

“They are our memorials, and they belong to us,” said Steve Nevels, who drove six hours from West Virginia to participate in the demonstration. Nevels, 39, said he helped take down some of the barricades that were blocking the World War II Memorial, where the group started its march at about 8 a.m. Protesters then made their way to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and the Lincoln Memorial before converging at the White House shortly before noon.

But tourists had already ignored signs and barricades and were streaming through many memorials, so a protest at the barricades wouldn't have the desired dramatic effect.

A spokesman for the National Park Service said the National Mall and all memorials alongside it are officially closed, but that people participating in the marches were allowed access “to the veterans’ memorials, as has every veterans group, their families and friends who have wished to visit the memorials since Oct. 1.”

...

The scene was more peaceful at other memorials, but tourists had accessed those memorials after ignoring signs detailing closures. At the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. memorial, people ignored the signs reading, “Because of the Federal Government Shutdown, All National Parks Are Closed. This site is closed.” They tore away police tape around the site, and people were wandering past the huge sculptures that make up the monument and posing for photos.

At the Korean War memorial nearby, tourists wandered freely through the site in full view of a National Park Service employee.
