Who will save Syria?

Please note - this is a massacre of peaceful protesters - defended by fighters whose weaponry is pathetic in comparison to the Assad military. Before the peaceful protests, there were no charges of there being any "terrorists" in Syria.

And as for Chechnya being a "success" story - think again:

On March 10, 2011, Human Rights Watch reported that since Chechenization, the government has pushed for enforced Islamic dress code and other traditions which violently repress women.[57] The president Ramzan Kadyrov is quoted as saying "I have the right to criticize my wife. She doesn’t [have the right to criticize me]. With us [in Chechen society], a wife is a housewife. A woman should know her place. A woman should give her love to us [men]... She would be (man’s) property. And the man is the owner. Here, if a woman does not behave properly, her husband, father, and brother are responsible. According to our tradition, if a woman fools around, her family members kill her... That’s how it happens, a brother kills his sister or a husband kills his wife... As a president, I cannot allow for them to kill. So, let women not wear shorts...".[58] He has also openly defended honour killings on several occasions.[59] All this is occurring despite being illegal under Russian law and international laws.

In 2009, the American organization Freedom House included Chechnya in the "Worst of the Worst" list of most repressive societies in the world, together with Burma, North Korea, China's Tibet and others.[44]

Thank you Putin !!! I hope Assad does not turn Syria into one of the most repressive societies in the world - oh wait - it already is.

But the Syrian oil fields are an extension of the Iraqi oil fields, and we've already got that sewed up. Whether the US leaves its "investment" into Afghanistan's rare earths to India and China remains to be seen.

- You know, there were once a band of believers in spirits and wraiths and what-nots, who also once poo-pooed the idea of the Germ Theory.......

Here's another conspiracy that was once only a theory:

But these were done by US soldiers who went into a different ME country to try to make things better.
The results were.... not so great.

How about that?

"You will only cause MORE fucked up shit to happen in Syria if you shoot missiles at them and drop bombs on them."

Is that better?

may be used to predict our success or failure in Syria. Unless we do it differently, which is unlikely.

I think it's a lot like "learning".

I annoyed people by my constant criticism of those two wars. I was asked to stop emailing the latest brutality.

It is too bad that everything that various US presidents to becomes everything that the US does.

I do not blame current South Africans for what Botha did; I do not blame the current English for what their previous rulers did in creating the first concentration camps where thousands of Boer women and children died, I do not blame descendants of any who committed atrocities for what their predecessors did etc, and I do not blame Obama for what Bush did - he has reversed what Bush did in Iraq.

However, after all is said and done, I do not believe the women and children care a FCK about all of that. All they want is a little humanity and help. An entire generation of children is being traumatized. If there was concern about any children being traumatized, why is there none here - all the answers seem to involve dredging up stuff that this President was against.

And you may have noticed that Obama is not rushing in to help. And as a result he is being dissed by many in the ME as not having a pair.

There are times when it is right to interfere, and there are times when it is not (Iraq, Afghanistan). I do not believe the US should interfere in Syria, but the Arab nations have to get their act together and stop what is happening there. Otherwise, any disgust at what happened in Iraq is hypocritical if there is not disgust as to what is happening in Syria.

Such a list would be extremely lengthy! You can search for the user and then click on their screen name, click on their profile, and under account states it will say either "active" or "posting privileges revoked" as a blue hyperlink, click on that at it will give the date, reason, and either Admin or Malicious Intruder Removal Team member revoking their status.

One of my brother steelworkers was a Syrian, I'll call him Greg. His family integrated into an Italian neighborhood and ran a bakery. He used to bring these wonderfulsandwiches to work for us on delicious Srrian bread. He was a true friend and a good person. It hurts deeply to remember my friend and hear the news from Syria. Peace to you Greg, and to your family.
