Imagine being the 1st black POTUS, looking out your window

tweeted by, Steve Silberman ‏@stevesilberman 16m

Imagine being the 1st black POTUS, looking out your window, and seeing a Confederate flag. America 2013.

from Don at Obama Diary:

After the events of yesterday in front of the White House I am left both speechless and sad. Those events are on a different level than merely complaining about your taxes being too high. For me, yesterday was when the bottom fell out and collectively we all took a step backwards. I could only think of the Obama daughters looking out of their bedroom windows and looking at the confederate flag being displayed as something to rally around. When the confederate flag can show up at the White House and members of congress can make speeches about liberty while standing under that flag without an ounce of shame or regret, collectively, we all have lost a sense of community. Something was lost yesterday, but I just can’t seem to put my finger on it . . .

he needs us more than ever.

This was not entirely unexpected. I've seen repeatedly where formerly under-represented segments of society (people of color; immigrants; women; LGBTQ) first break through, they are met with the most resistance and resentment from the neanderthal descendants.

I expect Pres. O. is not that surprised. It is his family, whom I cringe for.

On the other hand, it is clear that evolution left the Tea Partiers behind. Maybe that's why they deny it!

but i don't think he really expected this level of racist insanity....hell, i didn't, and i've been black in america a lot longer than him.
what an appalling display of ugly americanism! and most of the participants are probably too dense to grasp just how ugly, disrespectful, and INSANE they truly are. i suppose that the entire world condemns them makes them feel more special. and then again, they have rush and flush snooze to bolster them

An intelligent, classy black man is legally their "better". There is no other reason for the level of vitriol and insanity.

Next, will be Hillary. A woman will be legally their "better". Ditto above.

what do you call a black man with a Ph.D.? these people do not accept him or his accomplishments. they just see his skin color.

That's my caption.

To the jury....anybody who thinks yesterday's "Confederate March on the White House with a Black Man In It" wasn't about race isn't being serious with themselves.

that this was not done by accident, it was planned, but this tells me two things;

1) It shows the level of desperation on their part that the only thing they have left is outright racism.

and

2) The president has finally succeeded and IS winning.

We just have to be more diligent and continue to give him our utmost support he needs us now more than ever.

I prefer action over photo-ops...

However, this photograph chills me, makes me sick, and makes me incredibly sad all at once.

and NOT the first time it has been "shared" with a phoney story as well.

wakey - wakey - yes, the situation is bad down there, but let's at least deal with it truthfully,

not descend to the teabag/repub level.
