Joe Scarbourough throws in the sponge...

Just now on Morning Joe (MSNBC), Joe Scar literally threw up his hands and more or less declared the 2012 election a write-off.

He says he hasn't seen the Repuke party so rudderless since the post-Nixon election of 1974.

They figured out that Mittens is nothing but a placeholder candidate, the real Rethug race for the WH is four years from now. Rather than see time, energy and money going to beat the dead horse of Romney, they're psyching the base up for making sure they keep the House, and take the Senate.

Being as Barack Obama is relatively toothless without a Democratic Congress, and he does cave in to the Repukes often enough, they know they're on to something here.

Barack Obama generated a lot of excitement four years ago, even in places that he was sure to win. A lot of people turned out at the polls to be a part of making history. Now that history has been made, they're going to need some goosing to get aroused, and if Mittens is the Rethug candidate, he's not going to inspire anywhere near as much fear as a Gingrich or a Santorum.

into every level of government. They are doing a great job of setting up the GOTP for decades to come. In some towns in my area there aren't even Democrats to run against them.
My Brother is running for Mayor of his little town. He was on the school board for many years and the town begged him to run because the only other candidate was a republican who had never volunteered a day for the town. I know my brother will win because he has been very active in town for decades and the entire town knows and loves him. But if he didn't run there would be one more level of government gone to the greedy and heartless.

They are developing members to take jobs in local and state government and they have groups teaching people how to run for office.
So please don't forget groups like Emily's List and others who develop grassroots progressive government and if you can...run!

They have their base so paranoid and insane that none of the candidates can live up to their 'purity' standards.

GOP politicians have to go so far to the extreme right in the primaries that they render themselves unelectable in the general.

This is what 20 years of screaming, washed-up rock DJs as your party spokesmen gets you to.

"Throw in the sponge" is, I BELIEVE, even older than "throw in the towel". They both come from boxing to signify one corner wanting to stop the fight because it's getting dangerous for their competitor. They used to use a sponge to wipe off the sweat and blood in between rounds. Now they use a towel, but both have been used to signify giving up.

... and the appearance of controversy.
Both parties need to project the illusion of a "fight" to keep the donations rolling in.
Under the Power Sharing Agreement, the Republicans are not scheduled to re-take the White House until 2016,
so they haven't fielded a serious candidate this year.
This is ALL for The Show.
If they didn't put on a show, nobody would donate to either campaign.

Several BILLIONS of DOLLARS will be dropped on our politicians this year,
and a good percentage of that money WILL go into the pockets of the MSM,
so roll out the Jerry Springer Super Campaign Extravaganza.

Meanwhile, covered up by the Campaign Hype, serious business is going on in the Middle East,
and in Washington.
Watch the Right Hand, and pay NO attention to what is happening behind the curtain!
