U.S. Olympic Committee Adds ‘Sexual Orientation’ To Its Code Of Conduct

The United States Olympic Committee (USOC) voted to update its nondiscrimination policy to include “sexual orientation” when it met last Thursday to discuss the upcoming winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.

“The fact that we do not think it is our role to advocate for a change in the Russian law does not mean that we support the law, and we do not,” said USOC chief executive officer Scott Blackmun.

Blackmun says the new U.S. nondiscrimination policy will include specific language barring discrimination based on sexual orientation. (One wonders why it wasn’t there before?)
