I'm sick of these fucktard republicans fucking up my country.

(881 posts)I remember watching the live feeds when it was a cohesion of several liberal groups, including labor.
Toward the end, even before the raids... it was just a bunch of 20-somethings that knew absolutely nothing about the world that engaged in false equivalencies like most low intelligent voters do. Most of their discussions were cringeworthy and I got depressed for emotionally investing in such a failure.

(10,893 posts)were good, but like you said, that false equivalence drove me nuts (particularly in regards to the 2 parties). The Republicans have been the main culprits of all the country's financial woes by continuing to waste time trying to de-fund health care and push for cuts to government programs, yet some of the people from Occupy decided to lump all Democrats in with the GOP because of a few Blue Dogs.
They did help start the debate about wealth inequality and taxing the rich, but other than that, I think Occupy turned out to be a failure. There was a lack of leadership, a lack of money, and they couldn't all get behind one agenda. For example, I remember even seeing some Ron Paul supporters at an Occupy protest in NYC, and it was basically like everyone there was fighting for different things.

(24,764 posts)the same way the teahadists infiltrated and intimidate the GOP.
If OWS can pull off all but taking over the Democratic Party, then Occupy can have the leverage to put the fear of God in corporate DINOs and even threaten primary challenges from the left to make them play ball. The only impediments are money, or the lack thereof, and persecution by the establishment, unlike the Tea Party, who seems to be handled with kid gloves.

(3,065 posts)Somebody speak up and tell me what they want to do. Because all I've heard about is a bunch of drummers in a park. The movement is sadly ineffective because there is no leadership.

(34,845 posts)2. The GOP is floundering precisely because they don't have a coherent leader.

4. Without a leader, demagogues rise to the front. As in the Ted Cruz types.
