my initial email is last, then their response, then one I just sent, below.
And...have at it people - the contact emails are below. I am sure David would love to hear from lots of you!
Hello David,
Thank you for your response. You speak of this as if it is a matter of pride, whereas it is actually something for which you should be regretful and embarrassed. But if you wish to associate with misogynistic, lying imbeciles who do nothing for this country except to proliferate lies and ignorance, so be it. You can be sure that we will never listen to your station, nor will our family members and friends - nor will be buy anything from any sponsors of your shows.
Regretfully,
Dr. XXXXXX

XXXX,
I've received a bunch of emails like yours over the weekend and I responded
to some, but I'm not sure I responded to you. We have carried Rush on WPTF
since December 2009. He is now on Rush Radio 106.1 in the Triangle which is
owned by Clear Channel.

PLEASE - get that foul mouthed, despicable Rush Limbaugh off of your radio
station. The comments he made about the young woman discussing
contraception - calling her a slut - is hateful and not worthy of being
heard in Raleigh. He is an embarrassment to all of humankind.
thanks

(53,410 posts)I'm sure they'll start caring when they get more than "a bunch of emails like yours".
How supremely arrogant they are till they start feeling the pinch.

(51,076 posts)They carry a show that I like on one of the local channels they own and I informed them that I no longer would be tuning in.
Its a local show on KMOD, 'Phil and Brent, the breakfast club zoo' and these guys are funny as hell and I'll miss them but miss them I will.

He may have meant to write that they have NOT carried Rush since December 2009 (although based on the message below from WPTF's site, he's not happy about that).

We regret that Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity will no longer be part of the Curtis Media Family effective Thursday, December 31st. However, please know the following true facts:
1) The decision to move Rush and Sean from WPTF was NOT ours.
2) Rather, that call was made by the programs syndication company, Premiere Radio Networks. We were afforded NO opportunity to discuss the matter, let alone renegotiate a new deal. Instead, we were given a 90-day notice of cancellation back in September.
3) Premiere Radio Networks are controlled by Clear Channel Communications, the same company that owns four of our competitors in the Triangle. This latest move is one of many over the last seven years where Clear Channel has made an overt attack on our stations. Weve survivedand thrivedin each instance, and we intend to do the same here.
We have enjoyed a long, fruitful relationship with Rush Limbaugh, and we hate to see him go. WPTF was among Rushs early network stations, and well always be proud of what we accomplished together.
It concerns me that so many WPTF listeners think were arrogant (or dumb) enough to purposely drop a successful show like Rush Limbaugh. While weve made our share of mistakes over the years, I can assure you this isnt one of them. I can also promise you that the other quality components youve come to expect from NewsRadio 680 WPTF will remain in place.
Weve already expanded our coverage of local and national news with wall-to-wall news blocks in the morning from 5:00 to 9:00AM and again afternoons from 5:00 to 7:00PM. Scott Fitzgerald hosts a brand new, local talk show from 9:00 to 11:00AM, followed by Dave Ramsey, 11:00AM until 2:00PM. Bill LuMaye follows until 6:00PM daily. Then, its a full hour of news followed by "The Great One," Mark Levin. More news, more local talk, more of what WPTF has stood for since 1924 and, unfortunately, no more Rush Limbaugh.
I know I speak for the more than 50 dedicated broadcasters and journalists on the staff at NewsRadio 680 WPTF when I say how much weve appreciated your listening to Rush over the years. I hope youll continue to visit us at 680AM on the dial.
Happy New Year,

(146,317 posts)it appears that Rush Limbaugh is not broadcast by that station. Isn't that interesting?

It seems to me that sending angry letters to stations that are not carrying Limbaugh is not a worthwhile use of time.

(146,317 posts)that relationship ended in 2009. The syndication company moved the show to other stations. It wasn't the station's choice.
I believe you just made an error.

(60,014 posts)But thanks for your concern for the right wing radio station.

(146,317 posts)I was responding from my My Posts page, and didn't return to the thread.
As for your statement about right wing radio stations, I don't listen to them. Further, before I send emails to media outlets, I double check first, to make sure I'm not making an error. Your snarky response is inappropriate and incorrect. I'm sorry you made a mistake in emailing that station. I can think of half a dozen other reasons to send them an email of complaint, but that's clearly not one of them.

(60,014 posts)(I suspect because he became too expensive). The station pretty much pushes right wing spin/swill all day so I am not sorry to have sent the message. I am sorry to have not been accurate or double checked, just having gone on my (obviously obsolete) assumption.
So a mea culpa for the specifics, but not for the principle!

(2,199 posts)Greensboro is the closest station to us that carries the slobs show. Fortunately we have Sirius Radio and NEVER listen to that slug.
