(62,416 posts)that make me wonder about that more often than I would like.
One involved a guy going ballistic on me when I waited on mixed couple. This was mid-60s in Iowa. I just told the guy that their money was green and asked him to leave. He left but ran his mouth all the way. Never could understand what business it was of his.

They are different religions, races, sexual preferences, political affiliation, you name it.
And "the Other" has always been a target for demonization, especially to use as a scapegoat for what goes wrong.

(7,947 posts)Why is it any of their business? It isn't, whether you're for it or against it. But that's not going to stop someone's personal opinion on something. What business is it of yours why someone gets worked up about it?

(25,406 posts)People here never seem to get "worked up" over interracial couples, gay couples, etc. Does that still happen elsewhere?

I have a pretty diverse family, myself.
A few gays...
Atheists, Catholics, Fundy Christians...
Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians...
Ethnic diversity...
Mixed race (black/white) cousins and great-niece
Mexican-American stepson-in-law
I'm glad to come from a family where none of that stuff matters.

Im half of an interracial couple, my people are from California her family is from VA, and there are certain groups in her family that I have no interest in meeting. My wifes father is 79 years old so you can just assume he had a little heart ache when I showed up, but after getting to know me he has accepted me as his son. We had an incident yesterday with our lunch destination after a medical appointment; Chick-fil-A was the suggestion. I guess my nonverbal communicated I didnt agree with that choice so my wife suggest another restaurant my GOP family members where clueless ROFL.
