The truck passed the bridge's height limit, but the trailer didn't.
Report: Roof of covered bridge falls on truck in Maitland
The roof of a covered bridge in Maitland collapsed on an SUV late Monday, wesh.com is reporting.
An 8-foot-tall trailer hauled by the SUV hit the roof of the bridge, which only has a clearance of 6 feet, 6 inches, the news organization said.
The bridge is at Old Horatio Avenue and West Trotters Drive.

Good grief raise the old bridge already. If a 6 ft 6 in person has to duck to walk under a road bridge, it's too damn low.

(37,573 posts)The bridge said 14 feet. So the two truck drivers stopped before driving under it and they measured the height of their truck - it was 16 feet. Then they measured the bridge just in case the sign was wrong. Nope, the bridge was 14 feet, just like the sign said. Then one of the drivers looks around and says "I don't see any cops around, let's go for it."

Twas funny at the time, but that was before the bridge in Skagit Valley collapsed due to the same problem.
