Seems To Me The Repugs Are At The End Of Their Rope Here And This Is A Last Ditch Attempt To.....

get some concessions out of the Dems and the President. They are making it look like they still hold some cards here - but if the Dems and the President stand firm here and don't make any additional concessions - I'm thinking that they have to cave or it will be their demise.

the ability to delay into default. And they can still do more damage.

Maybe the Romans should have allowed the Visigoths into their government the same way we did.

But GOP leadership is weak, and unable to take a reasonable and logical action. Teabagger caucus are demagogs and bomb-throwers want to destroy the govt and economy, and they are controlling the puppet strings of leadership.

If a majority of the house repugs were interested in having a proper federal government, responsible fiscal policies, and mature handling of the economic situation, you'd be correct. But they aren't. Their expressed goals are to inhibit the function of the federal government and consistently obstruct President Obama's agenda.

By shutting down the government and threatening default (let alone actually defaulting) they are actually accomplishing their objectives, short sighted as they may be.
