It may cost a million to get them all there to vote, but it cost the same if they don't vote at all. 1-Old-Man Oct 2013 #9

It’s really hard to break down the cost of a vote in Congress. In fact, none of the congressional watchdog groups in Washington have done it. So we had to do our own, back-of-the envelope calculation. We figured out how much we spend per day on salaries and office costs for members of the House of Representatives and their staffs. The grand total? Almost $2 million every day. Are repeat, symbolic votes worth the cost?

Not if you ask Thomas Mann of the Brookings Institution. "Congress has become almost a joke," he says.

would be figured by the day. Vote or no vote, they are just wasting a ton of money doing nothing productive.

Actually, it's far worse than doing nothing productive. Their efforts are deliberately destructive.

And the costs of moving heavy, printed vote records from point A to point B. They really probably should do something about that.

Representatives and their staff get paid whether they are voting or never vote. Same salary, benies, etc. The Capitol and the offices are open and functioning whether there are votes or no votes.
