can anyone verify this? Sounds a bit high, but what do I know?
that would make about forty million just voting to defund ACA..

(5,067 posts)Its really hard to break down the cost of a vote in Congress. In fact, none of the congressional watchdog groups in Washington have done it. So we had to do our own, back-of-the envelope calculation. We figured out how much we spend per day on salaries and office costs for members of the House of Representatives and their staffs. The grand total? Almost $2 million every day. Are repeat, symbolic votes worth the cost?
Not if you ask Thomas Mann of the Brookings Institution. "Congress has become almost a joke," he says.

(5,067 posts)healthcare, minimum wage hikes etc. etc. Now they want to cut aid to the poor, social security and medicare when it is them that is wasting our money.

(32,016 posts)Representatives and their staff get paid whether they are voting or never vote. Same salary, benies, etc. The Capitol and the offices are open and functioning whether there are votes or no votes.
