Just got a call from the republican party - it was a real person, not a robo call

It was a very short conversation. He told me he was calling from the republican party, and asked me if I considered myself to be a republican or a Democrat. Quick answer, on my part "A Democrat, of course". His only response was a very pleasant "Thank you very much. Have a nice evening." and he hung up.

So, apparently they are trying to gauge the feelings of their herd. Seems to me to be a day late and quite a few dollars short.

"Help, I'm trapped in the GOP, and I can't escape. Can you get the police to trace this call and come get me before Michelle Bachmann comes back and starts talking about the end times again!"

There was a VERY long gap between me answering the phone and this guy finally speaking. I actually hung up, when nobody responded to my 'hello' but the call wouldn't disconnect. Then I got some very major and irritating screeching feedback. So, I don't know if it was the local branch, state or national. But, like I said, he was very polite.

We have been trying to get off any and all calling lists. I got into them when I was a fool and gave money. But these days we need to. It works with some, not with others.

I expected more conversation, after the whole party affiliation issue was settled. And, the whole actual live human being on the other end of the phone issue - WHEW - mind blowing.

1) It lets us know that they're scrounging around for something - anything. Probably hoping to find a poll that'll show them more of what they want to see.
2) It proves conclusively what we all suspect - they don't give a rat's ass about anyone outside their own closed little circle. Certainly not Democrats!
3) It also strongly indicates they only want to hear from the GOP because that's the ONLY arena from which they can expect something other than across-the-board condemnation.
4) They still don't know what to do. Maybe consulting "the people" will provide some answer.
5) Proof that their spin-machine is still up 'n' running, even while they shut everything else down.
6) Proof that their polling is completely slanted and exclusive to one view only. Only GOPers need apply.
7) It strongly indicates that they've carefully schooled their phone operators to disconnect immediately when someone answers "Dem here!" Too much input from too much "riff-raff" before this, maybe? Can't waste our precious time on The Great Un-Sorted! Suggests more sophisticated demographic efforts. Beware! They know enough to feel the need to refine things even further, and drill down even more deliberately and vigilantly. Good cautionary tale here.
