Is it too much to ask to have Chris Matthews do a "Live" show at 7pm?

First he had two great time slots at 5pm and 7pm for the same show. Then he gets bumped to 7pm only. And so now his show is taped? How much pull does the guy have? Who wrote his TV contract?

There have been several instances just since MSBC's new format began where Matthews show being taped has clearly hurt the network.

Today is one of them.

Tonight his show is completely irrelevant.

Why didn't he go live? With all of the talent at MSNBC, and with 3 networks in a heated cable news war, how does MSNBC justify having a taped show at 7pm?

I guess have to watch GOP wannabe Erin Burnett to get updated news. Her show is terrible. But while her news is bad. At least its not old.

I'm sure Alex Wagner (or somebody who actually wants to work at the network) could have filled in and done a good job.

I don't get it.

Who in their right mind wants to be hanging around a TV studio at seven PM?

You think David Letterman does his show live? He's home in front of his TV by seven PM, too.

@ 7 pm. It's all too obvious when he has on folks reporting from the White House and its still light outside (at this time of the year). The only thing they have to update (other than a periodic business update) is a breaking news banner at the bottom.

What's interesting though is whenever his original 5 pm show got preempted, he would actually do his 7 pm show "live" (up until a certain point when they would then append on any taped portions to fill out the rest of the slot).

The guy was pretty good back in the day. He is not as good as he used to be. It seems like he doesn't bother keeping up with current events. He just does not seem knowledgeable about enough of what is going on to be worth watching.

Yes, he knows a lot about what happened 35 years ago. He can go teach a course on Reagan if he wants to. He would be great at it. Unfortunately, nobody is tuning into his show for a history lesson.

I really do hope he is on his way out.
