Obama, Biden To Meet With Jack Lew Wednesday

President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden will sit down with Treasury Secretary Jack Lew at the White House on Wednesday, one day before the deadline to extend the government's borrowing authority.

The meeting will take place in the Oval Office at 2:25pm ET, the White House announced.

and one is only as a last resort.

My real hope is that the partial shutdown has cut spending enough to buy us a day past this deadline that it looks like we'll miss, so that cooler heads can still act...somehow.

My "last resort" hope is that Obama is considering some extraordinary measure, such as the 14th Amendment argument that the debt ceiling is irrelevant (the debt shall not be questioned, we are obligated to pay), or the more outlandish idea of minting a trillion dollar coin. I hope it doesn't come to that last option, since it will spook our lenders — after all, why not make it a quadrillion dollar coin and send everybody to college with free healthcare?
