Rush Limbaugh on Monday kicked off his afternoon show by insisting that his written apology to Sandra Fluke over the weekend was heartfelt and sincere and the conservative talk host brushed off the continuing withdrawal of advertisers from his program.I always tried to maintain a very high degree of integrity and independence on this program. Nevertheless, those two words were inappropriate, they were uncalled for, they distracted from the point that I was actually trying to make, and I again sincerely apologize to Miss Fluke for using those two words to describe her, the conservative radio host said. I do not think she is either of those two words.
Explaining that he never really believed that the Georgetown University law student was actually a slut or a prostitute, Limbaugh, speaking on the air for the first time since extending a rare apology over the weekend, said the message had been heartfelt.
The apology was heartfelt. The apology was sincere, he said.
Limbaugh also expressed regret for stooping down to the level of Democrats in discussing the issue of contraception coverage.

He's such a fuckin asshole!
edited to add: I just read on another blog that he started his show with the music from the song "Easy Lover"--the instrumental. Looking for a link/confirmation now.

He wouldn't know integrity if it bit him on the ass.

(7,093 posts)He is uncompromisingly hateful. He sticks to his hate to the book. Even his apology is as relentlessly hateful as he is.

(20,582 posts)Sandra Fluke's non-acceptance of the bullcrap apology will be used to make him seem the victim.

(20,582 posts)I just hope she isn't trashed more than she already has been for not accepting the (non) heartfelt apology and doesn't feel pressured to do so.

(82,849 posts)The apology has to fit the offense, and you went on for three days, you vile human being. You've got a LOT of apologizing to do.
Can we quit giving this vile human being air time on our Armed Forces Network? His vileness could definitely impact troop morale and cohesion, and we're at war you know.

(58 posts)Limbaugh really must be feeling the heat from his advertisers. This must really be disheartening for his mindless followers.

(4,982 posts)What he said before your excerpt is telling. He tried to blame someone else (STILL) for what came out of HIS mouth. This time, he's blaming "the left".
But, "the left" didn't utter those words. Limbaugh did. And only Limbaugh is responsible for them. No one else. Here's the part he said before that:
So, now Limbaugh's abuse is the fault of "the left". Yet the words came out of HIS mouth. We heard them. It's always someone else's fault when you're a bully.

(25,249 posts)he's not remorseful. This wasn't heartfelt. In his mealy mouthed written apology he had to still get his shots in and in this verbal apology he's blaming liberals and stooping to their level. If he was stooping to the level of liberals he actually be moving up to being decent. He's so far below any stooping. This guy is a liar and a fraud. He doesn't deserve to be cut a break this time. I only hope that the advertisers that dropped him stay away. I also hope that he has trouble finding new advertisers. We need to keep the pressure on this guy. He's vulnerable now and at a breaking point. Call the radio stations that carry his show and tell them you won't turn them on if they continue to air his show. Call the advertisers and tell them you will not buy their products. Any new advertisers he picks up - call them too. Call your reps in D.C. and get Rush dropped from Armed Forces Radio. Call the FCC. He pretty near toast now - don't let up on him now. Don't let this die.

(11,101 posts)He's still feeling the pressure, obviously. The irony is, the more he grovels the more he loses his sociopath fans and the worse it gets for him, while no amount of groveling will keep everyone else from still hating him. Sucks to be you, Rush.

Keep up the pressure people - we CAN get his show yanked and cancelled.
