Yahoo layoffs could reach thousands, happen this month, report says
Yahoo (YHOO) CEO Scott Thompson is planning a massive restructuring that will result in layoffs possibly totaling in the thousands as early as the end this month, according to a Monday report.
AllThingsD reporter Kara Swisher, who accurately reported the recent turnover in the Yahoo board before it was announced, detailed Thompson's plans in a Monday story. In it, she wrote that several sources within Yahoo and on the outside say that Thompson plans big changes at Yahoo's products department, which oversees most of the features with which Yahoo users interact, along with other departments such as public relations, marketing and research.
"Some parts will be cut away, leaving resources to go to better efforts," a source told Swisher.
