ROVE: "Republicans Walked Into Obama's Trap"

Republicans Walked Into Obama's Trap
His goal was to discredit the GOP before 2014. The defunders fell for it.

Barack Obama set the trap. Some congressional Republicans walked into it. As a result, the president is stronger, the GOP is weaker, and ObamaCare is marginally more popular. The battles over spending, taxes and debt have not been resolved, only postponed. It's time Republicans remembered that bad tactics produce bad outcomes.

he had no goal other than to not destroy the economy or give in to terrorists. It's not like he led Republicans on then pulled the rug out. Chris Hayes ran a clip of the number of times he said he would not negotiate on this. It's not a trap when someone tells you exactly what they are going to do, you don't believe them, then they do it. It just makes you a rank idiot.

A small group of nutjobs lead them into a fight they couldn't win and the rest followed because they are rubes. I give credit to the President and Democrats in the Senate for not giving in. But it was hardly a trap: the Republicans did it to themselves.

Not easy to spin this one- not even for Rove who is generally a master of it. This way he can sort of blame Pres. Obama and not take any responsibility for the complete fuck up of the insane lunatics who hijacked his party and caused this to happen.

There was no trap and Rove knows this.

Thu Oct 17, 2013, 12:23 AM

Which meant that there would be no vote, and therefore any negotiation was predicated on a gun being held to the head of the Democrats.

The point is that Obama didn't blink, not that he "withdrew." There were something like 16 attempts to conference throughout the congressional period. It's a joke. Rove is a fucking liar.

Because Rove's whitehouse was sooooo good at tax policy, overspending and not producing debt. Oh wait he wasn't. He under taxed, over spent, and traded debt for worthless military adventures. Why would anyone listen to him? The country is still working to reverse Roves dreadful policies that created the debt problem to begin with while his GOP is desperate to double down on Roves fail economic policies.

You just fucked up so badly all on your own that he didn't have to set a trap. Republicans put a banana peel on the floor, then walked across the room, then turned around and ran towards it at full speed, and completely slipped on it and fell flat on their ass.

And then when all was said and done, you somehow still think Obama did this to you.
