Evan McMorris-Santoro
Since the controversy over Rush Limbaughs attack on Sandra Fluke began, there have been whispers among Limbaugh critics that this might be his Imus moment a reference to another shock jock host, Don Imus, whose 2007 insults of the Rutgers womens basketball team led to his ouster. Its still unlikely that Limbaughs comments about Fluke will leave him jobless, but that didnt stop Rush from taking a cue from Imus Monday: Limbaugh, like Imus before him, claimed he was subjected to a double standard when stacked up against rappers.
Imus and his defenders pushed this line hard back in 2007 after he was called out for referring to the Rutgers players nappy-headed hos. His critics were undeterred, and Imus was eventually fired from MSNBC.
Nevertheless, Limbaugh picked up on this line of reasoning today as he reiterated his apology to Fluke from the weekend amid continued criticism including from Republicans and advertisers canceling sponsorships of his show.
Talk about a double standard, Limbaugh said on air Monday, according to Dylan Stableford. Rappers can say anything they want about women (and) its called art. And they win awards.

(6,670 posts)There's an infinite supply of disgusting Limbaugh vocals to work with.
You want to hear him squeal and whine, wait until someone skilled with Autotune sets him to music. Like this...

(7,875 posts)1) Typically rappers come from a place where everybody talks like that. You don't. And still you hear people complaining ALL THE TIME that rappers use that kind of language. And not just feminists either. Black community leaders are always telling rappers to cut that shit out. Personally I think conservatives like that rappers talk that way- it gives them another reason to look down on black people, and it's a rationalization for them to use racist/misogynistic language themselves.
2) When rappers talk about "bitches" and "ho's" they are not singling out an individual -BY NAME- and spending hours dragging them through the mud before a national audience. Like you did.
3) Rappers don't hold themselves up as pillars of society and right thinking. You do. Now, we all know you're full of shit but those millions of knuckle dragging morons who listen to you don't. Nobody forms their opinions on what rappers say. Nobody shoots up gay-friendly churches or concocts plans to assassinate the president based on what rappers say.
So to sum up- Sorry Rush: FAIL!
