Here are the 144 House GOP votes to continue the hugely unpopular GOP government shutdown. Yes, mainly folks in safe districts, but this does create a pickle for their reelection bids. For national security voters, it ought to be shocking for them to do this in a time of war? In a time of war?
Forget it. Some of these people are done, and we will retake the House, especially when they try this stunt again early next year. Pure nihilism, and I think more folks will have the sense to see that in the 2014 elections.

(5,061 posts)The Texas GOP delegation voted in lockstep, yet I cannot imagine that all of their districts are that safe. The regional effect is severe--almost all of New York's GOP reps voted yes, as did all the New Jersey GOP MCs. Some of these were a little surprising: the entire Nebraska delegation, Republicans three, all voted yea.
Not surprising at all that Bachmann was the only representative from Minnesota to vote no.
I'm going to turn this into a map by congressional district.

(9,462 posts)can be explained if the oil industry (again, the Kochs and more) will be donating heavy for those who voted against it. Texas oil money can overshadow a lot of other interests there. My two cents.

(338 posts)They should be removed from office. Why make innocent people suffer for nothing. They expected a ransom for hurting people. Give me break and two are from NY. Wow Collins and Reed. First time hearing their names. From NY, Weird. Upstate I assume.

(62,444 posts)Well, it's not as if we can make them suffer for something. Why should guilty people do all the suffering?

(5,061 posts)Byrd worked a long time to move so many federal jobs to West Virginia. They have three reps, two Rs and one D, all voting yea.
I did notice that the smaller the delegation, the more likely Republicans were to vote yea. Perhaps this is because gerrymander shenanigans work best in states with a large delegation. It is hard to gerrymander a perfectly safe district when there are only three.

(15,545 posts)And I have Candyass Miller for a rep due strictly to gerrymandering. We used to have one of the best reps - Dave Bonior and now we have this idiot who doesn't have a thought of her own in her peabrain.
Michigan is losing it's mind as far as I'm concerned.
