Nothing Ted Cruz Said About the ACA Today Is True

Unfortunately, virtually everything he said about the healthcare law was either directly untrue, highly exaggerated or badly misleading.
Fact-checking Ted Cruz has become old hat at this pointbut sadly, not for many mainstream media outlets, who have dutifully reported on the all-encompassing, government-shutting, market-riling debate over Obamacare without actually parsing who is right about the effects of the law.
So this mornings moment is as useful as any to examine claims that the ACA is so bad, the government almost had to default in order to get rid of it. .....

It's not often that you are able to refute thru personal experience the honesty of a sitting senator. After watching Senator Ted Cruz' morning press conference, I can. First, He mentioned people all over the country were receiving letters advising them that their medical coverages were being canceled due to ObamaCare. He used as his primary example UPS saying that 15,000 people recently got a letter saying their medical benefits were being cancelled. I was in management at UPS for 20 years. A few of those years were spent in the HR/benefits function. The letter in question relates ONLY to those spouses who work full-time elsewhere and are eligible for their personal coverage thru that employment. Anyone without employment coverage would remain on the UPS coverage plan. This policy decision had nothing to do with the ACA. It was simply a prudent business decision. Secondly, a few weeks ago I received a letter from my insurance carrier, Aetna, that i could CHOOSE TO KEEP my insurance plan thru a grandfathering clause (policyholder for at least 3 years) if ObamaCare was not a better option for me- hardly a cancellation letter. Thirdly, he mentioned that people's parents were receiving letters advising them of soon-to-be cancelled policies. He of all people should know that medicare recipients are not impacted by ObamaCare.
