Trifecta of lunacy in one Pat Robertson rant

Pat Robertson went all out in this video explaining:

Prayer can keep storms away. "Jesus can steer the storms. You can steer the storms."

"Hurricanes are a release mechanism that God sent in to take the heat out of this world and to transfer heat around various parts of the world."

"The fact that people decide to build houses on the edge of an ocean, it's their fault. It's not God's. And it's the same thing if you build a house on the San Andreas fault. You know there is going to be a fault. You know the earth is faulted and there gonna be earthquakes. Now, so, don't blame God for doing something foolish."

Than this.

"Hurricanes are a release mechanism that God sent in to take the heat out of this world and to transfer heat around various parts of the world."

I think that I count at least four things in that sentence which just totally defy all known science.

I'm sure the victims in Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio and the other places will derive great comfort from Pat's opinion of why they're suffering, stamped with the imprimatur of his warped understanding of the Almighty.

I was always told that God was perfect...now Pat is saying that God isn't perfect, that he created a flawed planet...and if something goes wrong then God can't be blamed?

Wow, I think I know where the Republicans get their ideas from...

and show us how the power of prayer can stop one of those....put yourself directly in its path (and, if it will help, get Franklin, Perkins, Dobson and a dozen of your best religious hypocrites), then have one of those direct-line conversations you're famous for with your Republican God. Show us how YOU can do what you demand of us lesser mortals.

That it would be easy to find a quote where Robertson blamed an earthquake or hurricane on god's vengeance for something Robertson doesn't like.

He's always killing people just for shits and giggles, like some ancient, demented, vengeful entity out of a comic book...

...but the sheep can never figure out that praying to Odin or Zeus has about the same effect.
