I used to be a Corrections shrink & remember an occasion a number of years ago when I was working with a guy who had just been released from prison after a lengthy sentence for attempted murder. I came up with a psych treatment plan that was intended to help keep him out of prison. He didn't like the plan. He ended up back in prison after going into Berserker mode and threatening my life.

Society had to be protected from him, but to this day I wish him no ill.

Sounds fascinating. I've never done any corrections work. But I have worked a number of psych units. It pleases me to no end that some kind of rehabilitation was attempted. Your work was no doubt successful in other cases. Hope they appreciated the opportunity of having some better coping tools in their toolbox.

If only the psychopaths in congress would take a course in thinking errors....

Inpatient psych several years, ICF-MR, outpatient clinic, Corrections, & for the last 7 years private practice criminal forensic psych. I guess I just can't hold a job.

I was just a psych tech doing institutional custodial care at a state hospital and later a state school for MR clients. After I got my nursing degree I worked some private hospitals doing detox and basic mental heath care. I worked closely with the social services, psychologists, and psychiatrists. I've been very interested in how people respond to psychotropic medications. Your job sounds so interesting to me.
