Moments ago, Bonobos, a mens outfitter, announced on Twitter that it was dropping any of its advertisements that are appearing on Rush Limbaughs radio show:
.@Bonobos Thank you very much for that. Very gladdening to hear. Let us know your findings, if you could.
@Bonobos
@ScottCandage Looks like we were running on it, but we've told them to pull us from the show indefinitely. Thanks for letting us know!
Sears announced that they, too, are dropping Limbaugh:
According to a ThinkProgress count, Bonobos and Sears are the 10th and 11th advertisers to drop Limbaugh in the wake of his sexist and hateful attacks on Sandra Fluke.

Since Thursday, I've been obsessively refreshing my news search for Rush Limbaugh and just found this
Chris Leonard, President and General Manager of New West released the following statement this morning:
We have always encouraged spirited discussion about national and local issues on KPUA and from time to time those discussions may be deemed by some to be objectionable. We are strong believers in the first amendment and have recognized Mr. Limbaugh's right to express opinions that often times differ from our own, but
it has never been our goal to allow our station to be used for personal attacks and intolerance. The most recent incident has crossed a line of decency and a standard that we expect of programming on KPUA whether it is locally produced or a syndicated program like the Rush Limbaugh show.
While much of the national debate regarding this issue is now being framed in political terms, the decision for us is one of decency and responsibility. Regardless of one's political views on the issue being discussed, we feel the delivery was degrading and the continued comments over several days to be egregious. As a result, we are discontinuing the Rush Limbaugh program on KPUA effective immediately.
Short diary, but news to keep us focused.

(60,010 posts)Radio and tv ads are screened and reviewed and paid for by companies, who know exactly what they are doing, who know which ads, how often, how many. They have to buy the slots ahead of time, and they know it.
There is no such thing as an "accidental" ad.
Are they trying to say the ad ran away from home and just jumped onto the radio?
Fuck Sears and Kmart for insulting our intelligence.

(17,200 posts)... is that they bought the airtime from either the station or the syndicator, and not specifically from the show. It is disingenuous, yes. Your last line covers it nicely.

(36,440 posts)Sears/Kmart doesn't want local ads to run during Rush's show either. Heads up to local and regional Sears managers to talk with the radio stations.

(18,634 posts)Some of them must have liberal oriented management and felt uncomfortable advertising on Rush but didn't feel justified leaving because of the financial impact of losing his audience.
Now that financial loss is insured if they stay, it's the perfect opportunity to get away from him.
