it is virtually impossible to deal with it all. Worse, several studies show that conservatives, especially bible beaters who wear funny hats and mis-spelled signs, are immune to facts which attack their position. Instead, it hardens their resolve.

I use CCI MiniMag 40 Grain...otherwise, it jams. CCI MiniMags are simply NOT available.

They are not available at cheaperthandirt or anywhere else.

Wow, what a delusional world that leads to!

Here are some FACTS:

Gun conspiracy theorists accuse the Obama administration of a new plot against ammo (and it is full of holes)
By Megan Carpentier

<SNIP>
In March, Alliant Techsystems (also known as ATK), one of America’s biggest defense contractors, announced a contract with the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement to provide .40-caliber hollow-point ammunition (used across the government for training purposes, because it breaks upon impact and thus doesn’t ricochet). The contract, known as an Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity contract, is designed to allow the government flexibility for procurement over time – or to avoid writing multiple contracts as needs change or supply dwindles, since the process is laborious and time-consuming. In the case of this ATK .40-caliber contract, it allows the Department of Homeland Security to purchase up to 450m rounds over up to five years, at its discretion.

Why would the Department of Homeland Security need 450m rounds, let alone for the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) alone?

To begin with, DHS houses a number of agencies with armed personnel, including the Coast Guard, Customs and Border Protection, the Transportation Security Administration, the US Secret Service and the Federal Protective Service (which provides security at all federal buildings around the country), in addition to ICE. It also houses the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, which “serves as an inter-agency law enforcement training organization for 91 federal agencies” and has four US sites and one foreign training facility for agents of all those agencies.
<SNIP>
There’s no logic behind wanting the borders patrolled more militantly and bemoaning the supposed dissolution of the free enterprise system under Obama – while simultaneously finding conspiracies behind the ultimate end results of both those positions. But at this point, there’s no point in asking for logic when it comes to conspiracy notions about the Obama administration.

Social Security's OIG Responds to Concerns over Ammunition Procurement
<SNIP>
As we said in a recent post, our office has criminal investigators, or special agents, who are responsible for investigating violations of the laws that govern SSA’s programs. Currently, about 295 special agents and supervisory special agents work in 66 offices across the United States. These investigators have full law enforcement authority, including executing search warrants and making arrests.

Our investigators are similar to your State or local police officers. They use traditional investigative techniques, and they are armed when on official duty.

Media reports expressed concerns over the type of ammunition ordered. In fact, this type of ammunition is standard issue for many law enforcement agencies. OIG’s special agents use this ammunition during their mandatory quarterly firearms qualifications and other training sessions, to ensure agent and public safety. Additionally, the ammunition our agents use is the same type used at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center.

Our special agents need to be armed and trained appropriately. They not only investigate allegations of Social Security fraud, but they also are called to respond to threats against Social Security offices, employees, and customers.

Here is a link to the Snopes.com article which covers some other right wing hair on fire paranoid tales: http://www.snopes.com/politics/guns/ssabullets.asp Again, lots of links to their original sources so you can check the information provided.

What is scary is the number of morons who refuse to actually check the facts and instead believe whatever conspiracy theory is thrown at the wall.

So how in the world is that "PBO" "limiting ammo?"

Does your friend have the slightest understanding of how bills become laws?

All this is supposing such a policy even exists, which is certainly not clear from your responses here.

"No manufacturer of either guns or ammunition has been ordered by the government to limit or alter its supply channels. All manufacturers are trying their best to catch up to this market, but it's a simple matter of supply vs. demand. There is way too much demand for manufacturers to meet with supply. There is not enough tooling, infrastructure or raw materials at the ready anywhere in the entire world to keep up with current consumer demand. And that's why we are seeing shortages."
