Crazed House ranter: "God made me do it" -- Husband: “I am proud of her.”

http://nypost.com/2013/10/17/crazed-court-reporter-is-evangelical-facebook-fan/

... “For the past 2 and ½ weeks, the Holy Spirit has been waking me up in the middle of the night and preparing me (through my reluctance and doubt) to deliver a message in the House Chamber,” stenographer Dianne Foster Reidy told Fox News’ Chad Pergram in a statement.

“That is what I did last night.”

.....

Reidy, a married mom of two young daughters who makes $126,050 a year at her House steno gig .... Her husband – a video company owner and former director of the far-right Great Commission Ministries International – defended his wife’s public outburst.

“My wife is a sweet, level-headed wonderful woman of God,” he told Pergram.

“I am proud of her.”

a book written by an ex fundie, Frank Schaeffer. Really throws a lot of light on the radical religious right. He's just written another book about this group's political agenda. I can't wait to read it.

Well... I do think it's probably mental illness, but not really something that can be helped. Sure, give her the option of taking a break and get therapy, but odds are pretty slim her and her family won't think of it that way unless she turns out to be straight up schizophrenic. If her situation is anything like other far right religious groups I've been around, her delusions will be encouraged rather than looked at as a sign something might be wrong.

that statement was "I planned this because you're all sinners so suck it."
IMHO, Whatever penalty would happen to any other citizen who snuck up there and grabs the mike on the floor of the House and starts scolding/preaching should apply here.
At the very least it seems like a form of criminal trespassing.
If you are not a member of the House and are at the mike and start speaking to the body you have broken the law.
Not to mention House decorum.
Only Congresspersons get to talk crazy on the floor of the House....

He did it as a joke. He was a chemist and worked for some paint company. Made big $$s. One night he left a note on a co-workers PC screen telling him "god is coming for you". Next day he was es-courted out.

He ended up losing his car and home all over a silly little joke.

pay attention to the details. He is defending what she did, because he thinks it's correct.

Frankly, I believe this woman should not be working in the Congress. Her beliefs are way off-center, and she could not resist making a rant on the floor. Fired is what she should be. We don't need any more right-wing fundies in Congress in any position.

try reading for comprehension. try not being suckered by the NYP.

I don't give a shit what her beliefs are as long as she doesn't impose them on anyone who works with her.

I think she had a manic break last night. Seeing as she's in the hospital on a psych hold, that's hardly a leap.

DU, by and large, is sadly ignorant of anything to do with MI.

I doubt you do, either.

I have a very good idea of her actions, though. Those actions make her presence in Congress for any reason an issue. I'll leave things like diagnoses to others who have some sort of qualifications and who are actually in contact with her. All others have really nothing to add to that part of the situation. That includes me, and it includes you.

Only a mental health professional who has actually examined her is competent to even discuss it. I'm dealing with what actually happened and nothing else. I have no idea about her mental health, nor have I expressed any opinion about it.

...that she's on a psych hold. It will make it so much easier for her family to claim she had a break, and then in a few days or weeks say she's all okay now, so you have to let her back to work.

In the meantime she sends a message to FAUX NEWS standing behind the remarks that she made yesterday. So is her message to FAUX NEWS also a psychotic break? I don't think so.

If you want to equate her belief system with mental illness, be my guest. No doubt there is a correlation... but I don't think this is the case to illustrate that.

That's more than I make as a legal assistant in DC with 25 years' experience and two Master's degrees. And she's a stenographer? Damn, I should taken that course. As for the Holy Spirit preparing her, I bet it's more like her husband's crazy religious garbage churning in her brain night after night. Is there no respite from these crazy religious fruitcakes?

can, I had right wing, fundy parents and extended family that did their best to damage me for life. Thank the stars I escaped, survived and found a better way. I hope those little girls will grow up and find a way to figure it all out for themselves, and just maybe, undo some of the damage that is currently being done to them, all in the name of God. A belief in God can be such a peaceful, powerful, and loving thing. Why must some people radicalize everything, and whether they mean for it or not, make it scary, hateful, rigid, and ugly?

BTW I do not call all religious people wacko even though I do not share their belief system. But this is not civilized behavior, and she clearly thinks she needs to tell the rest of us God's Own Truth. So f*** her.

Well she had her say. Now fire her ass for disrupting Congress. Surely there are conduct requirements in her contract. Although there don't seem to be many such requirements for our elected Members of Congress, so maybe she was taking her cue from them.

She is no doubt going to be fired, and then the Rutherford Institute or its ilk will bring a wrongful termination suit, holding her up as being persecuted in retaliation for her Constitutional right to free exercise of her religion.

There are people who believe the First Amendment is a blanket license to do whatever the fuck you want, wherever the fuck you want to do it, and whenever the fuck you feel like it.

And that doesn't just apply to right wing wackos either.
