Steve Stockman Asks Religious Right Law Firm To Investigate Impeaching Obama
Submitted by Brian Tashman on Thursday, 10/17/2013 2:40 pm
Not only will Rep. Steve Stockman (R-TX) distribute WorldNetDailys conspiracy-laden book calling for President Obamas impeachment to every member of Congress, but he has also hired a Religious Right law firm to make the case for impeaching Obama, evidence he will then present to the House leadership.
In an interview with WorldNetDaily, Stockman said that impeachment is on the table:
The congressman also mentioned that he hired attorney Bill Olson to see if Obama should be impeached.
Olsons law firm, which has worked with Stockman before, is the home of Christian Reconstructionist leader Herb Titus, who believes Obama is ineligible to be president and supports the imposition of biblical law, and claims it specializes in biblical wisdom.
Such biblical wisdom apparently includes helping a religious company which claims its food supplements can cure cancer.

(55 posts)Inquiring minds want to know. Seriously, Amazon Books: Impeachable Offenses, $18.36. (X 435???) WND Bookstore price: $23.36 (X 435???) $7986.60 or $10,161.60 spent on these books, either through use of taxpayers' monies or even his supporters' monies. Benefit of the doubt, and in fairness, he might have paid for them out of his own pocket. Even if the author donated them to this congressman, (could be an ethical issue with congressman receiving such a high priced gift), I hope he has them stored in his home garage because I wouldn't even want the books stored in a facility that my taxes pay for.
"The House gift rule provides that a Member, officer, or employee may not knowingly accept any gift except as provided in the rule. The rule is comprehensive, i.e., a House Member or staff person may not accept anything of value from anyone whether in ones personal life or ones official life unless acceptance is allowed under one of the rules provisions.
As is detailed below, the rule includes one general provision on acceptable gifts, and 23 provisions that describe additional, specific kinds of gifts that may be accepted.
The general gift rule provision states that a Member, officer, or employee may not accept a gift from a registered lobbyist, agent or a foreign principal, or private entity that retains or employs such individuals. Definitions of the terms registered lobbyist and agent of a foreign principal are provided in the section "Definitions of Registered Lobbyist and Agent of a Foreign Principal." 22
The general provision goes on to state that a Member, officer, or employee may accept from any other source virtually any gift valued below $50, with a limitation of less than $100 in gifts from any single source in a calendar year. Gifts having a value of less than $10 do not count toward the annual limit."
