Fox News guest blames Missouri teen: ‘I’m not saying she deserved to be raped but

The Fox News Channel may have taken its “Fair and Balanced” motto a little too far on Thursday when it invited criminal defense attorney Joseph DiBenedetto to make case for why an alleged rape victim was asking to be assaulted.

Following the news that a Missouri county prosecutor had asked for a special prosecutor to review the charge that a 14-year-old girl was raped by an older high school student in 2012, Fox News host Shepard Smith turned to DiBenedetto for a counterpoint.

“There’s no denying that from the surface it appears to be some sort of cover-up,” the defense attorney said. “But when you look at the finer details, there are telltale signs of this girl actually lying. She is leaving her home at 1 a.m. in the morning and nobody forced her to drink. And what happens? She gets caught by her mom, she’s embarrassed and the easy way out here is, ‘Mom, someone took advantage of me.’”

Seriously if it wasn't for luck most of the people both in front and behind the camera at that channel would be either unemployed or part time rent a cop prison guard type or garbage collector (no offense to garbage collectors). ...the girl had 2 to 4 inch tears in the genital area, according to the medical examination. When they were done with her, the young men left her outside in 22-degree weather, drunk and nearly unconscious. Her mother only found her -- 3 hours later -- because she was SCRATCHING ON THE FRONT DOOR. Her mother thought it was a dog! Thank goodness she went to investigate.

Sure, the girl was stupid to sneak out and drink with those young men. But we all know, kids do things like that. That does not give the young men license to have their way with someone who is dangerously drunk and could not give consent even if she were old enough. And besides taking advantage, it is apparent they were brutal about it. And that is even before they left her outside.

Gad, some days you have to wonder about people.
