This is really beautiful. When the boycotts first started, they did nothing to support Rush's sponsors. Instead, they defended his ugly comments and helped show how dispicable the Republican War on Women really is. Anyone who went to Free Republic this weekend looking for info on the candidates for Super Tuesday found a shitstorm of anti-woman vitriole instead.
Now, they have decided to join in boycotting the sponsors who left Rush. This is fantastic for us. It sends a clear message to anyone thinking about sponsoring Rush that this is a lose/lose proposition. No ad man/woman would recommend jumping into this environment. The best part though, is keeping this issue front and center as we head into Super Tuesday. Smart people would be trying to let this issue die a fast death but no one ever accused the Freeps of being smart.
I never use to understand why DUers spent any time in that cesspool but I have to admit it has been extremely entertaining lately. They bash Romney, and even Santorum, Newt and Paul, more than we do and have come up with some great ammo we can use against the eventual nominee. They just cannot resist any "culture war" issue, even when their own candidates are desperate to let these matters die. And now, they are killing Rush. Some are angry that he apologized but the ones who are still supporting him are playing right into our hands by fueling the boycott fires.
I hate the War On Women. I believe it is very real and very dangerous. But, we are winning and we will win. The American people are seeing just how ugly the GOP is and I can't help but be happy about that. I almost want to thank the stupid freepers for helping us in this fight by exposing the ugly underbelly of the GOP and their hatred of women. Almost.

(34,456 posts)reflections of the underlying feelings these people, and their political candidates, have about women and minorities. And it reflects their behavior toward women and minorities. We are not in a "post-racism", "post-sexism", "post-homophobia", etc. society, despite progress made. Anyone who doubts it just needs to check out comments on yahoo.com whenever a story that references race, gender, etc., issues, or simply refers to the President.

(3,469 posts)I even think some female Republicans are started to wake up to the underlying hatred behind their party's words and policies. I noticed that this weekend reading FR. A few people, mostly women, were saying that this kind of talk about women was wrong but the freeps just doubled down. By the end of the weekend, women were hardly posting on these threads at all. Now, I know women are outnumbered on FR by about 10 to 1, but their participation in these threads went down noticeably. If the women in their own party are becoming disgusted by them, just imagine how they are coming across to undecded voters.
