totally misrepresented her testimony? She testified about another woman who was a lesbian, so she had no use for the pill for sex, but she got ovarian cysts. The pill was prescribed to reduce the cysts and when she could no longer afford the pills, she went without and ended up losing an ovary. It had NOTHING to do with sex.
I think that is even more important, he was totally misleading and just plain wrong. And I'm sure he knew the truth, just didn't want his listening ditto's to know the truth.

(14,177 posts)However the Ditto heads and teatards are doubling down on the slut comments and acting as if the women who want the pill covered by insurance have their hands out to the government. Not sure how that works. So, anyway it seems that if you come here you get the whole story. If you go to a ditto head they will tell you that legalizing the pill has made slutdome an attractive alternative lifestyle.

(43,049 posts)he missed the point that if women can get free contraception, that should also mean free rubbers for everyone. Betcha nobody would have complained about that approach.
Condoms should, in fact, be the first thing to be given away since they are the only thing that prevents both conception AND disease.
But, Rush is a dick, and we all know dicks hate rubbers.

(1,721 posts)that could have been saved. We're finding that hormones are quite important for our health and longevity. If a man lost one of his testicles, would that be enough for those religious leaders on that panel to care?

(26,549 posts)Defending these specific women by saying "these women aren't using the pill for sex!" requires supporting the idea that women who have non-procreative sex are sluts. If you don't think that, there's no reason to justify the 'non-slut' use of birth control pills.
We could toss overboard the women who use the pill for contraception, in support of women who use it for off-label treatments. Or we could beat the Republicans over the head with their insane anti-contraception beliefs.
The former is going to result in chipping away contraception, since it becomes "icky" like abortion. The latter makes women's sex lives none of the government's damn business.
